I know that there are a lot of fad diets out there that say, "Eliminate your carbs and you'll lose weight!" Well, I am here to tell you that this is not exactly true. Carbohydrates are necessary in every diet. If you take in insufficient amounts of carbs, you will begin to burn your body's stored carbohydrates (glycogen) for energy. When your body burns glycogen, it releases water.
What does this mean? The weight that you lose on a low-carb diet is water weight. You aren't going to get good results because you are depriving your body of a needed nutrient. Remember moms, get on a healthy diet. There is no short cut. I know this is depressing and hard to swallow for most of us. We want results now! However, we have to show some patience. Get a good workout routine going and stay away from junk food. Add more color to your diet (i.e. fruits and vegetables). Don't try to take short cuts and use fad diets. You need a wide range of foods in your diet, and carbohydrates are one of the foods that your body needs. Don't go over board with them, but don't stop eating them either.
